My Dentist Says I’m A Bruxor Who’s Suffering From Bruxism

I went out to visit my dentist today, because I had a wisdom teeth that was growing out, and it was starting to bug me. Thankfully the process was swift and rather painless — though the sight of the menacing-looking needle still unnerved me. After the extraction, I asked my dentist while he was cleaning up, about the problem that I had with the soreness of my teeth. He seemed to know what was my ailment instantly, and attributed it to me being a bruxor.
‘Bru-what?’ I said. ‘Bruxor,’ he stated again, matter-of-factly. ‘you suffer from bruxism, which is the grinding, or clenching of your teeth. It’s a common ailment, and you probably do it unconsciously while you’re asleep during the night.’ It hit me like a brick. ‘What!? And how do I cure this bruxion?’ ‘Bruxism. There’s no cure for it per se, because it’s not exactly a condition that you can operate on. The best thing I can do for you is to do up a night mouth guard.’ I thought to myself, sure hey why not, if it solves my problem, it’s cool.
Then I found out that it costs $400. I decided to give it a pass.

Hi, my name's Ben, and I'm a long-time sufferer of bruxism - a condition in which I grind on my teeth all night long, causing me to wake up with a sore jaw and have occasional headaches. I started this site to journal my experience with bruxism and my progress to finding a cure.
